JOIN YOUNGMI MAYER ON THIS EXCLUSIVE SMALL GROUP GUIDED IRELAND TOUR - LIMITED TO 12 SEATS
In celebration of standup comedian Youngmi Mayer’s new memoir, I’m Laughing Because I’m Crying, we’re headed to Ireland for an unforgettable trip! You probably know Youngmi Mayer from her hilarious videos online. And yet: Unless you’ve read Youngmi’s book, you may not know that her paternal grandmother is from Ireland. She’s just as Irish—and probably even more so—than the lads over in Boston who shout it from the rooftops.
This all-inclusive trip begins in Dublin and culminates in Belfast and explores many of the central themes that run through Youngmi’s memoir, such as political history, identity, and heritage—and that’s just the fun stuff! The Irish are known for their humor, music, hospitality, and craic. We’ll stay at the best hotels, eat incredible food, and spend a lot of time outdoors at the peak of the Irish summer tourist season. We’ll also have the opportunity to support Youngmi at a public event in Belfast as part of the trip.
This will be Youngmi’s first time in this ancestral homeland, and you can come along for the ride. Come and see a side of modern Ireland that you really can’t experience with anyone else!
A copy of Youngmi’s memoir is included in the tour for each guest.

SAMPLE IRELAND TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
Our trip begins on Friday afternoon in Dublin, where we’ll gather with our fellow travelers and celebrate the start of our trip over a round of pints. After a pint of the black stuff, we’ll head over to the Liberties for a private welcome dinner featuring the best local food from around the Boyne Valley prepared by one of our favorite chefs. We’ll be joined by a special guest who will regale us with stories as we enjoy our first meal together. On the way back to our hotel, we’ll stop for some traditional Irish music in one of our favorite pubs.
DAY 2
In honor of this being Youngmi’s first trip to Ireland, we’ll spend some time learning about Irish history and exploring the city of Dublin. Our day begins with an exclusive walking tour highlighting the immigrant influence on Irish cuisine. For lunch, we’ll get a behind the scenes look at Dublin’s first tortilleria followed by a feast. Later, we’ll head to one of the best museums for a private tour. After working up an appetite walking the city, we’ll gather for dinner at an Irish gastropub.
DAY 3
Saturday is all about a field trip! We’ll leave the city limits and wander around the Dublin coast, escorted by one of our favorite local chefs. Today is about spending time in nature, learning where our food comes from, and foraging for ingredients with new friends. As an island nation, Ireland has access to an incredible bounty of seasonal fish. We’ll enjoy a seafood lunch cooked al fresco by our chef guide before returning to the city for a little rest & relaxation. Tonight we’ll stay close to home and enjoy a special dinner prepared for just for us by a Michelin-starred chef.
DAY 4
We’ll say goodbye to Dublin after breakfast and head to the countryside today. Our first stop as we head north is the Boyne Valley, Ireland’s “valley of the Kings,” and site of the Hill of Tara and Newgrange, a Neolithic passage tomb. Our activity this morning combines Irish mythology and archaeology, as we travel a route carved out by our Irish ancestors 5,000 years ago. After a picnic lunch, we’ll visit a local biodynamic cider mill; there, we’ll have a behind-the-scenes tour and tasting with the owner. Dinner this evening is a real treat: we’ll be enjoying a sumptuous spread in a private home, hosted by one of Ireland’s most sought after chef/host duos. After our early Sunday dinner, we’ll cross the invisible border and head straight to our hotel in the north of Ireland.
DAY 5
There will be more fresh air and sunshine today as we head out for a guided hike in the Mourne Mountains! Don’t worry, though—we’ll be rewarded by a visit to our favorite distillery in Ireland at the end of the hike, where we’ll learn all about the craft of making small batch pot still whiskey & poitín and enjoy a celebratory drink. We will have some time to rest at our hotel this afternoon, and then it’s off to a mind-blowing hyper-local dinner at a surprise location in this gorgeous region.
DAY 6
We’re off to Belfast today, the capital city of the north of Ireland. We arrive right in the middle of Féile an Phobail, Ireland’s largest community festival. We’ve saved some time today to explore the city & engage in Féile events. Our dinner this evening is an exclusive dinner prepared by a guest chef in the heart of West Belfast, home of Irish rap group Kneecap and one of our favorite communities in Ireland.
DAY 7
After breakfast, we’ll head over to West Belfast for a crash course in the recent political history of the Irish freedom struggle in the form of a walking tour provided by a former IRA volunteer. We’ll have the opportunity to relax over tea and coffee at an Irish language community center and then break bread over lunch with a former hunger striker. After a break in the afternoon, we’ll enjoy an early dinner and then head to a city center venue to gather in support for Youngmi as she performs on stage! Sure to be a highlight of the trip.
DAY 8
On our last full day together, we’ll take a journey up the Antrim coast to visit Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at a local beach before heading back to Belfast, where you’ll have some time to do some shopping or relax before dinner. To close out our tour, we’ll gather for a fun and fancy meal at one of our favorite spots in the city.
The itinerary above is the current plan, and things may change. We will make every effort to provide the tours and experiences that are described. However, the nature of the places we’ll be visiting — not typical tourist destinations — means that things can change at the last minute.
