CULTIVATED IRISH EXPERIENCES

FEATURED IRELAND TOUR:
GUESS WHAT? I’M IRISH!”

An Epic Irish Adventure with Youngmi Mayer

August 1 to 9, 2025

In celebration of standup comedian Youngmi Mayer’s new memoir,
I’m Laughing Because I’m Crying, we’re headed to Ireland for an unforgettable trip! You probably know Youngmi Mayer from her hilarious videos online. And yet: Unless you’ve read Youngmi’s book, you may not know that her paternal grandmother is from Ireland. She’s just as Irish—and probably even more so—than the lads over in Boston who shout it from the rooftops.

This all-inclusive trip begins in Dublin and culminates in Belfast and explores many of the central themes that run through Youngmi’s memoir, such as political history, identity, heritage, whiteness, and colonization—and that’s just the fun stuff! The Irish are known for their humor, music, hospitality, and craic. We’ll stay at the best hotels, eat incredible food, and spend a lot of time outdoors at the peak of the Irish summer tourist season. We’ll also have the opportunity to support Youngmi at a public event in Belfast as part of the trip.

This will be Youngmi’s first time in this ancestral homeland, and you can come along for the ride. Come and see a side of modern Ireland that you really can’t experience with anyone else!

TESTIMONIALS

Kate and Max helped us plan a delicious itinerary for our (too) short trip to Ireland! They recommended amazing, small farm-to-table restaurants that we never would have come across otherwise as well as local markets, cheese shops, and natural wine spots that blew us away and helped us get a taste for what the Irish culinary scene is all about. Along with the experience of sustainable, intentional cuisine, we were blown away by the hospitality everywhere we went: from Dublin to Galway, we felt welcomed and nourished by every interaction. They also recommended a day trip to the Aran Islands which was a highlight of our trip. Bog and Thunder gave us an amazing entry point into Irish food and culture and we’re excited to return and discover more!

PHILADELPHIA

Bog & Thunder made every step of planning our trip to Ireland complete pleasure. We were offered incredible unique suggestions that were truly remarkable. Once we made our decisions everything was flawlessly arranged for us. In addition to the main attractions, Bog & Thunder gave amazing suggestions for memorable options to do along the way that made our Ireland experience so special. It was the extras that did it for me... like stopping at an artisan bakery on our way out to the countryside so we had snacks on the road or for the drive back to the city stopping at a quaint farm for a unique Farm to Table dining experience. I wish the Bog & Thunder Team experiences were available globally. I'd use them for every trip moving forward.

We're back home after our trip to Ireland and I just wanted to say, THANK YOU. The trip you planned was truly unforgettable for us and (despite a couple of hangovers) we enjoyed every moment of it. The meals were diverse and delicious and the tours were excellent.

B&T IN THE NEWS

“Bog & Thunder is one tour group looking to show visitors lesser-known but outstanding food, landscapes, and tales of Ireland. Kate McCabe, along with her husband Max Sussman, explore how boats on rivers weave in and out of mythology and what food can show about ancient stories.”
